My Thoughts on Cinema
We were born and raised watching Indian films and Pakistani/Punjabi cinema.
With the passing of time films were not only entertainment for us, but we also adopted some heroes and villains which became our role models and were so powerful that they influenced our daily lives.
Indian characters and its developments were dominating our identities and social lives in school and what nots. And if you failed to catch up along the recent blockbuster you were apparently socially flushed.
I’m sure everyone desired to be film actor or maker after watching a certain film at atleast some point during their childhood.
But we all eventually grow out of it and our pursuits change with the passing of time and everyone decides and follows their own path.
Today cinema is a well known field and it has different branches and different styles to understand
our knowledge of film arts.
Now we are in the age of exploration.
We have opened our minds toward different cinemas.
I found it totally different than our cinema.
Thanks to internet we have had chance to discover a new cinema with unbelievable techniques and styles that is kind of realistic and yet beautifully abstract at the same time.
I’m talking about Iranian Cinema where characters match with the story and film without songs accompanied by universal color grading splendid imagery and a believable story that compels you to watch the film through out.
The cinematography and direction of Iranian cinema make feel us that the person which is the character playing in the film that’s his real life and its real foe while the stories of film will make you realize you are in that world and part of the story.
If we compare Indian cinema with Iran every country has its own technique and style. We always see a main lead character in Indian films when he is sad he drinks when he meets his heroine he is romantic and sing a song when he face the gangsters or villain he is the superman in the same film.
But when you watch Iranian film you will find lead character more realistic and relatable with flaws and weaknesses that we can all relate to.
Every single country has a unique Cinema where you cant see any similarity with another cinema.
Hollywood is a ruling industry all over the world but if you are film student or film lover do not just inspire yourself only with Indian cinema or Hollywood mainstreams
If you want to watch more realistic films watch Iranian Cinema, if you are more into action films watch Russian cinema where you’ll find astounding real visual effects in the film, or if you are fantasy lover there is no better option other than Chinese Cinema.
Well there is another Cinema which is really addictive where you’ll see creativity of DIRECTION.
Of course I’m talking about South Korean Cinema which is my personal favorite.
South Korea is famous for K-Pop which is famous music industry in the South Korea.
But if you wish to travel back in the time watch Korean Historical series with the technique of cinematography you’ll feel that for a while you are there and everything is happening in the front of you live.
And romantic genre series are outstanding where you will feel little regret why I’m not part of that world, because your mind just won't let go of it and will force you to think its not a fictional story it’s an actual world where these characters are real and living.
This is not enough if you want to understand Art of the grappling audience s' Emotions. Watch a South Korean film of 60 minutes duration of which 55 minutes of the screen time will make you laugh a lot while the last 5 minutes you will end up with tears.
As a student of Media with filmaking background l would advise that Film ART is an Ocean of creativity dynamics and splendour and every single country has its own film medium do dip yourself in Cinema of every country that you can find and then you will see yourself emerging as the creative soul you were always meant to be.
