Tamas 1988 film review In Govind Nahlani's five-hours tamas film (Darkness) based on Bheeshma Sahni's novel, reflected on the riots in Punjab and the politics of the subcontinent during the partition. The film's screenplay, dialogues were co-written by  Govind Nihalani ,  Bhisham Sahni Bheeshma Sahni had witnessed these riots in burning Punjab, he has played the role of Har Naam Singh in this film. Govind Nihalani has been the top director of Bollywood, to his credit there are masterpieces like  Akrosh 1988, Ardh Satya 1983, and Party 1984.  His family was also divided and the cast of the film includes actors like AK Hangal who witnessed the riots and migration of the subcontinent's partition. AK Hangal of the Communist Party has played the role of  Congressman Bakhshi G in the film tamas. My Thoughts on Cinema

We were born and raised watching Indian films and Pakistani/Punjabi  cinema. With the passing of time films were not only entertainment for us, but we also adopted some heroes and villains which became our role models and were so powerful that they influenced our daily lives.  Indian characters and its developments were dominating our identities and social lives in school and what nots. And if you failed to catch up along the recent blockbuster you were apparently socially flushed. I’m sure everyone desired to be film actor or maker after watching a certain film at atleast some point during their childhood.                             But we all eventually grow out of it and our pursuits change with the passing of time and everyone decides and follows their own path.
